37Signals releases their once internal application called “In/Out” - now the Backpack Journal - Basically the concept is that you list the things you’re going to do for the day (check in) and then list the things you actually got done that day (check out) - a common practice among teams.  We do something similar at WeGame.com - though don’t use backpack.  Highly recommended over the IM or the poke “What are you doing right now?” questions.
